Happy holidays to you and your loved ones!
I completely agreed with you that the mainstream medias today in any country on this earth tend to, in a way, “promote” the doom and desperation of their audience,by feeding them on a second basis the negative news stories.
If I were asked to give a description of today’s mainstream medias, my answer would be “Sex and negativity sell.”
In addition, i feel that some social progression has been manipulated by the mainstream medias. For example, I’m all for gender equality. However, I feel sick whenever I come across an ad, in which the husband is presented as an idiot whereas his wife is seen as this knowledgeable, authority figure, telling him what to do, for the purpose of creating a comic effect.

Dear Chun,

I so agree with all you say! And the ‘reverse stereotype’ of the man looking like an idiot is still a damaging and ugly stereotype that benefits no one.

I still have my TV, but I treat it with great caution, since some of the things that are broadcast are just too negative to endure. Also, on the whole, I don’t like it that TV addresses me as if I were stupid. I don’t need to be insulted.

No one does.

So let’s stay positive and recognize that our friends in the media are just trying to make a living, but they’re doing it by trying to sell us trash.
