Middle of the Night Thought

Posted on | July 27, 2010 |

I woke up with this couple of sentences running through my mind: “Dear Brother Bird at my birdbath, How often do I do anything for you? Yet I am paid every day by your beauty.”

Gifts are where we find them, and if we’re paying attention they’re everywhere.

How very Franciscan (which in my mind is high praise). I love it, and I will bring it to mind often, when I am appreciating the gift of a bird’s beauty. Thank you, Allan.

Thanks so much for your comment, Frank. It’s been a long time since we last spoke!

I confess I hadn’t though of myself as Franciscan in any sense, although I do talk to birds, usually in an attempt to reassure them so they don’t fly away.It often seems to work, too….
